Hydrogen is the ideal propellant for nuclear propulsion architectures. Hydrogen can be sourced from water on the Moon, asteroids, and Mars. General Galactic is building the technology to harvest hydrogen, and the engines to use it.
Nuclear Electric Propulsion (NEP)
Electricity from a fission reactor pairs with a next-generation ion thruster to deliver historic mission capabilities, like hundreds of tons of cargo and 100 km/s+ of delta-V per mission
High total impulse and long endurance
Very high thruster power class creates unprecedented specific impulse
Ideal for missions to the outer solar system
Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (NTP)
Heat from a fission reactor is delivered directly to hydrogen produced from electrolysis. The low molecular weight of hydrogen allows it to accelerate rapidly, creating incredibly high specific impulse without sacrificing thrust.
Efficiency and thrust scale with reactor size and temperature
Water can be used as shielding, O2 for life-support
Ideal for missions requiring high thrust
